How We Anonymize Data

We occasionally access and analyze stored data to gain insights into how our users utilize the tool and improve its functionality. When we do so, we strictly adhere to our data retention policy, only accessing and utilizing data that falls within the specified retention period. We prioritize your privacy and take extensive measures to ensure that all data accessed is fully anonymized, guaranteeing that individual users cannot be identified from the information gathered. Your trust and privacy are of utmost importance to us, and we aim to maintain the highest standards in safeguarding your data.

Data is anonymized before any analysis is conducted. Our anonymization process follows the following guidelines:

String Data: Strings are replaced with random letters while preserving the original string's length. For example:

Original: "John Doe"
Anonymized: "Xyq Mhg"

Numeric Data: Numbers are replaced with random numbers. For example:

Original: 12345
Anonymized: 67890

Dictionaries: Dictionary keys remain unchanged, while dictionary values are replaced using the formulas mentioned above. For example:

Original: {"name": "John Doe", "age": 30}
Anonymized: {"name": "Xyq Mhg", "age": 25}

Lists: The contents of lists are replaced using the formulas mentioned above. For example:

Original: ["John", "Doe", 30]
Anonymized: ["Xyq", "Mhg", 25]

Data Retention

Uploaded data is retained for a maximum of 90 days, after which it is permanently deleted. We do not use deleted data for analysis purposes. However, as part of our efforts to improve our services, we may retain some aggregate data beyond the 90-day period. This aggregate data may include metrics such as the number of data points visualized over time or a breakdown of visualization types used over time.

We do not share any user data with third parties. Your data is treated with strict confidentiality and is only used for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

We only store the data explicitly sent to us by our users via the Shellviz API. Your data remains securely stored and is used solely for visualization purposes within Shellviz.

User Rights

You have the right to delete any data you visualize using Shellviz. Simply click on the delete button next to each data entry, and the data will be instantly removed from our servers. Once deleted, the data cannot be accessed for analysis purposes.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

To provide a consistent user experience, we store your MAC address and IP address, allowing you to access the same Shellviz instance across multiple sessions. We use Vercel Analytics to collect anonymous data about how our website is being used. This data is collected in a way that does not allow us to reconstruct a browsing session across pages or identify individual users. Vercel Analytics complies with the GDPR. Updates to the Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be clearly communicated on Shellviz and will be datestamped for your reference.
